What Certification Requirements are There?
Once you have completed your certified nursing assistant training, it is necessary to pass a certification exam given in every state. The exam does differ from state to state to meet their requirements, so ensuring that you have graduated from an accredited school with nationall recognized curriculum is key.
The NNAAP or National Nurse Aide Assessment Program is responsible for the certified nursing assistant exam which consists of an oral, written and skill testing section. Without passing the exam, it's impossible to start working in the field. You will then be added to the certified nursing assistant registry which contains a list of names of every CNA who has been certified in the state.
From there, you simply need to decide the medical environment to work in, from a hospital to a private clinic to a nursing home; there are various CNA careers available for you to choose from.
